I truly honestly believe that all people are created equal. Race, religion, origin, nationality, language, color, age, health, etc. should not make a difference in regards to respecting other people. I understand that people with disabillities need special care, and people who speak different languages than me need a translator (or something along those lines), and people who are from another country will have different customs and traditions than me. So why is it so hard for the rest of the world to realize this? am I alone on this point? Why treat people as inferior? Why treat others with less respect?

I could have written that and it amazes me when I find someone who does not agree with me. Happens to me at work. I am a senior citizen and I have lived by that rule all my life. I get fed up with people who are name calling and judging instead of just loving one another. Thanks for writing this in this forum. Have a great week.

The reason we don’t treat everyone with respect in regards to their race, religion, sex or health is because our forefathers didn’t. If you go back hundreds of generations you’ll find that people discriminated against others for many reasons (and sometimes they didn’t even need a reason).
This type of inequality is still with us and starts when we are children. For example… we won’t let someone become our friend because they like so-and-so. Or we won’t let them be on our team because they run slow. Or we won’t let them join our coloring group because they are new to the class or because they have blond hair and green eyes.
Even in our everyday lives we don’t treat everyone equally. Example… have you ever avoided looking a homeless person in the eyes? Or have you ever walked to the other side of the street because you saw a group of rough-looking kids and you wanted to avoid them?
We are all created equal at birth, then humanity steps in and strips that away.

You are correct. But alot of the people of the world don't like change and look at others and see only the difference. They don't want to get to know people for who the really are.
They may be afraid of what others will think of them. They may also be afraid that the friends that they have will snub them for making the new friend. If you think about it it's rather sad.

I agree with you. Everyone whether poor or rich, black or white, handicapped or special should be treated with utmost respect and equality. The one thing common in all of us is the colour of our blood. Why the racism? Why the discrimination? We are all the same. We are uniquely special in our own ways.
Some people are just too ignorant to accept people from less fortunate backgrounds.

I agree with you completely and I dont judge people based on what they look like or where they come from. People who treat others badly because of race, religion etc are just plain ignorant and they dont want to learn to respect others beliefs etc because they are afraid!! Afraid of being the single goat in a flock of sheep, afraid of expanding their horizons or have just learned from bad role models how to treat other people. I can honestly say that my sister is racist and intolerant in alot of ways and I know that the reason she is like that is not because of my parents or family it is just because she really truly looks down on herself and so she puts other people down to make her feel better inside in some obscure way that I cant understand. I love her still because she is my sister but I hate how she puts down everyone else it almost makes me physically sick.... It is like she projects her own self loathing onto everyone else and hates for the sake of hating. None of my other siblings or relatives are like this and I really cant say what was different in her life to make her so hateful of different people and I dont think racist or intolerant people ever really know WHY they are like they are. There is just something missing in their life that makes them hateful and it is truly a tragedy that people hate others for no real reasons. I never judge someone on what they are but what they do in life nothing else is significant, not skin color, or culture or beliefs only actions define a persons worth in my book.

man! I totally aggree with you, there are so many selfish closed minded jerks out there, they don't even want an explanation.. but i think most people are a product of their environment, which cannot always be controlled. it's not fair, I especially detest when "handicapped; people are being made fun of, i think they are normal people trapped in a body that doesn't work properly, that includes brain function.. because your brain is not the same as your soul

Someone has to be superior to another person. Work, government, school, home, children, etc. It is just human nature to strive to be at the top of the totem pole. People humiliate, downgrade, and portray others as ignorant to get to the top quicker.
