People can be moody without having any connection to periods. A lot of other psychological issues are there to cause that. It's a sign of some long standing difficulties that need to be addressed before you consider a more permanent relationship. I am a retired mental health practitioner, and I have worked with many such people. Their family histories are often difficult ones, and their and their family's history of alcohol and / or drug abuse can be an issue. Get it checked out and dealt with before you decide on a more permanent relationship. Dysfunctional family history that may include alcohol and / or drug abuse / addiction or other abuse is possible. God Bless you.

Men get just as moody as women, and it also seems to be monthy hormonal swings. I swear they have a period! They just don't bleed unless they get in a fight because of their moodiness. Or he might have problems at work or with his family or something that he just doesn't want to talk about but it's bugging him. Or maybe he just doesn't feel well. Not looking to going back to work tomorrow after a long holiday weekend. Whatever.
Be kind to him. You two must both need some TLC tonight, it sounds like a tense place to be.

if he knows your in your period he anticipates extreme emotions from you, and in turn trys to be moodier so the attention you would get and he "believes" would have to deal with now you deal with his. like putting the shoe on the other foot i guess

Your boyfriend may be suffering from some form of depression. Mild depression is very common in all ages and sexes, and most people suffer undiagnosed. He should check it out. It's nothing he needs to be embarassed about.

Probably because he's constipated and needs some damn exlax. Sheesh, give him a coupon for Stroh's ice cream. That might cheer the bastard up.

Try talking to him about what's wrong. Maybe he is having a bad day and his a little upset. I bet there are times when you are moody and it isn't your time of the month. Good luck to the two of you. :)
