What a fun question! It's entirely possible to dream that you are asleep but if you are mistaken either you aren't dreaming, aren't dreaming you're asleep or aren't asleep in the dream. Which could it be? Maybe it's more likely that you're daydreaming you're asleep as a form of wishful thinking. However it turns out, it's no mistake that I wish happy dreams to all!

Yes, it's possible to dream that you're asleep. Many people can dream about many things...some normal, some strange, some erotic and some...just very bizarre.
But all dreams have meanings. I mean, just because you are sleeping in your dream, it doesn't mean you are literally sleeping or that you enjoy to sleep. Sleep, in fact, is a symbol of your unconscious fear of or flight from reality. Like, do you have unknown talents you need to "wake up?"
In other words, your dreams are telling you something, a message about your life...sort of like your inner shrink.

I dreamt I was crossing over into a strangers dream and they became mixed up. I was aware in the dream I was dreaming, I just wonder if the person my dream crossed with is a real person and they experienced the same thing!

Yes, it's possible.
Have you ever dreamt something impossible to dream?

No but it is possible to wake up from a dream, get up, start your day and then discover you are still asleep and dreaming. So you get up and go to work and then discover you're still dreaming and wake up again........

I have, so I would have to say it's possible, but my dreams have also let me die. So I could be just some dream freak.
