Marijuana should be legal for responsible adults in much the same way as alcohol. To the person who said that the other drugs are not legal, check your facts. Cocaine is sometimes used as a local anesthetic. Ever heard of morphine, dilaudid, any currently used pharmaceutical opioid? Methamphetamine is used to treat narcolepsy. Hell, our doctors give kids amphetamines to calm them down (adderall). There's a form of synthetic THC available called Marinol.
There's also more than just anecdotal evidence that marijuana "might" be less harmful than alcohol. It's much safer. Marijuana does not cause physical withdrawals in the same way alcohol. No one has EVER overdosed on THC. Do you have any idea how many alcohol related deaths there are every week?

I think anti drug laws don't work, just like prohibition didn't. I think all drugs should be legalized. Not that I agree with drug use, which I dont at all. I just think the war on drugs does not work, and all it does is fill our prisons and jails. If fools want to ruin their lives, let them. If drugs were legalized the price would come down and these fools wouldnt have to do as much crime to support their pathetic loser habits. Organized crime and the gangs would get out of it because the profits would dry up. A win win situation, with one exception. The idiots that take the schitt.

Well, CHSLAW, obviously you haven't actually used marijuana, to be calling it a destructive drug. Name something it destroys, other than a bag of chips....
However if it were legal, they'd probably regulate the thc content (btw, thc is artificially produced and prescribed by doctors to manage various afflictions), making the stuff you smoke now a thing of the past. If it's okay to artificialy make the drug, how can the natural plant be harmful? Idiot government... It doesn't have to be smoked ya know...

I don't know where you get your information, but none of those other drugs are legal. Just because something like alcohol is legal doesn't make a good argument that marijuana should be legal. Marijuana is a destructive drug and shouldn't be made legal just because there might be some anecdotal evidence that it MIGHT be less harmful than alcohol. That is just plain nonsense.

I think the difference is that the law makers are looking at reasonable quantities. One beer won't mess up your brain. However, one joint, one line, or one syringe could. It's not the government's fault that the people take advantage of this and aren't using alcohol, yet abusing it. Where as though cigarettes are dangerous as far as long term health, they don't alter your state of mind at the time. I think that's what they're looking at.

I have to say that yes I do think it should be legal, it grows natural in some places in the world that means god had to create it correct?.....Maybe I am wrong for thinking such but from experience you can control self better by smoking than by drinking acohol. Whats the harm?

if the government controlled it and didnt put any chemicals in it like the ppl on the streets do ... but if it was legal, it would have to have the same rules as drinking ... no smoking and driving etc...but yea, other than that its not that bad of a drug

Yes. But people have to learn the truth about it before they will be willing to support it. Also, marijuana doesn't have a government lobby which puts it at a disadvantage compared to legalised pharmaceuticals.

It never will be though, because the government can't figure out how to tax it! Since there are different grades (many many different grades of weed). They won't know unless they smoke it themselves. It won't happen...im tellin you, they just can't tax it.
