Before my father-in-lack-of-law found out that I was gay and that his son and I are together, he took us to a strip club (he calls them naked bars) and he was telling us about how he and his friend have a ranking system for girls at these clubs... One thing that he said gave them +2 points was having a "joey". Apparently that's a little bit of pudge on the stomach.
While I personally love having sex with a guy with a hard set of abs, apparently there's a portion of the straight male culture that likes a little tummy on their ladies.

Its natural for a woman to have a bit of fat. So its natural for a guy to be attracted to that. Not a whole belly full of fat.....but toned abs are sometimes kinda manly

Not all guys will agree with what you think, if he is the jelous type then mabey it is something he wishes he had, or mabey he does not think abs look right on a woman. My final answer is, he is a guy just over look it. They will never understand.
