It depends on what's going on. Most time what we mean is "I love what your doing"

I'm finding that if he says I love you after a few weeks, it means that I really like you and feel comfortable being with you. If in a few months he says it and you have really spent alot of time getting to know eachother and you've been through ups and downs... then it truly means I love you and want to be with you for a long time. But dont try to make I love you mean, I will always love you. Because despite the best begnnning alot of relationships someday end. I dont believe in soul mates. because I have met people who I could've someday loved as much as my fiancee if only situations or timing were different. I think loving someone and staying with someone is a conscious decision. If you know that you could find someone else to love you but you would rather stay with this guy and he feels the same.. thats true love

Ok - so I'd say about 95% of men have commitment phobia's. So most do not use those 3 little words loosely. So either he really does love you or he is a COMPLETE dog and is using those words to get alittle something, something. Only YOU can answer your own question because YOU know him, and what he would want from saying it.

In today's culture if it is said early in the relationship, it probably means, "I like you and I lust after you."
Love is (among other things) caring for someone else more than you care for yourself. That takes time to discover and grow. Don't pay any attention to those words until at least a year and a half have gone by. Then maybe...

In today's society most of the time if you have known each other for a short period of time it means that the guy would love to go to bed with you. But, on the other hand it could also mean that you have found your soul mate especially if you have gotten to know each other for a longer period of time.

That depends on how long he has been your boyfriend.
If you have been dating for at least 6 months to a year, it could be love. If you have never had sex with him, it could be he wants sex. For some reason, they think saying "I love you", will do the trick. Just make sure you are 100 percent ready, BEFORE you do anything....:)

He means exactly what he means; that he loves you and that he is ready to take the relationship to the next level of intimacy, depending on how free and open minded you both are about these things.

It could mean anything!
He could mean 'I want to shag you!'
If he said it after sex, or during sex, he could be saying it from a sense of duty.
If he said it after you'd been dating for a long time and you DO have a sexual relationship already, he probably really means it!
Or, he could just be saying it because he feels it's what a 'boyfriend' is supposed to say to his 'girlfriend'!
Hopefully he actually does love you, which is only a problem if you don't love HIM...!

The words “I love you” after a long relationship will avoid an unwanted pregnancy. The older persons get, the more truth is in the message of those three words. Beware of the three words of “I love you” after one or two months; their meaning is the three words of “lose the panties.”

Not very much.
Without commitment it means nothing.
If he truly loves you he will not try to have sex with you before marriage. And he will ask you to be his wife and will commit to live with you for the rest of his life (with a 100,000 $ bond if he breaks his word).
Without such commitment, it just means -- you happen to be the nearest thing he can have sex with.
And once you get wrinkly, he will drop you for something prettier to have sex with.
No offense meant .. just too much experience with people and broken relationships (not mine; others).
Cordially,
John
