Existing laws can be built into super-computer systems. New laws/ amendments will be created by computers based on scientific inputs and a rationalizing software. Human inputs would be minimal and mostly strategic. Governmental agencies will be brought down to a minimum and will 'report into' the super-computers. Other nations can integrate and eventually create one global system. There will be consistency/ stability and less conflicts. Problems like poverty, diseases, environmental issues can be solved collectively.

That's one heck of a question. It brings to mind the point that was being made in "I Robot". At what point would the computer act to "Save" us from ourselves?

I am a huge fan of computer and humans working together, even to the point of allowing experimentation into cybernetic implants to make that interface easier.

Biggest problem with any mecho or electro system is that it is prone to faults, or damage from external sources.

Imagine the havoc that would be created if someone set off an Elector Magnetic Pulse (EMP) burst near one of these super computers or substations. Sure we would have back up systems and that sort of thing but it would still present problems.

Top put it in simpler terms; What if all electronic money transactions (ATM, CHECK CARD, VISA etc) could not be accessed for a week. It would be near devastating for most people...chaotic at least.

Computer assisted Government, I could foresee. But to virtually remove the human element would be to introduce many factors that mankind is woefully unprepared for.

Such a government is too easy to bring down. They would have to watch out for power outages, signal disruptions, and people clipping telecommunication cables in the middle of nowhere. The amount of security required is overwhelming so much that it wouldn't be worth it.

The only way is if the technology had absolutly full control of the entire physical country. The USA is too big, but on a moon colony it may theoretically work.

Politicians are the human factor...and we have the right to vote. As far as computers "running the country," someone would have to be in control of running the computers.
