An example,
Your mothers cousin through her father's brother Is your first cousin. That fist cousin's child is your second cousin.
The removed were if you were not related by blood. For example, your grandfather's brother's wife's sister's daughter is your first cousin once removed. Her daughter is your second cousin twice removed.

Second cousin twice removed..
Second cousin- If your father has a sister and that sister has a husband and that husband has a sister and that sister has a kid.
Twice removed- If you mother has a brother and her brother has a kid and the kid has a kid.. Kinda means not possible..
