I believe some of us have become slaves to technology. If there was a widespread computer crash some of us wouldn't know how to survive, seek out info. , think for themselves, have any suitable functional interpersonal skills at all. Yes, some of us have accepted being programmed like robots...Like in the book, "The Brave New World"

I think SOME people are. It is entirely possible for a person to become that way.
However, there are many many people who do not spend their entire existence on the Net...who have regular jobs and families and responsibilities..who are not losing touch with reality. THey may work on the Net and bank on the Net and get their news from the Net but it is a tool not a lifestyle.
First hint that you are losing touch with reality would be looking at how many hours you spend on the Net verses in conversation or work NOT on the Net.
Second hint would be if you have to actually be offline and miss chatting online with your "friends" whom you have never met.

Computer and the net are part of reality. The net also seems to have the capability of providing quality, real information to people.
So no, quite the opposite I think the cyber age is putting people in touch with reality.

Yea... it is sad really that we are developing into a society that depend heavily on what the Internet can give us. now a days, it is important for you to have knowledge. But what is knowledge compared to wisdom right?
I think, more and more children of the digital age can never acknowledge the beauty of nature, or the essence of being human. Well, sooner or later we can realize it is still an adventure to talk to, smile to, and live with a person who can actually see, touch, hear, and smell.
We can never replace what we have right now with digital imagery. But it is giving us the best entertainment in YEARs!!!! hehehehe :)

I feel fortunate to have this access to the outside world... I have made several great friends on here and we have had occasion to get together and really enjoy the personal relationship.. It is nice to be included in the events taking place in the lives of each one.. I do find I am spending less time online than in the previous year but, the payoff is in the friends I have enjoyed thru this medium.

Not necessarily losing touch with reality, but possibly losing their interpersonal skills. As you may have heard her this week, many more people than 20 years ago have only one or fewer friends they would call if they felt like they were in trouble.

I think that people are losing touch with each other. It is so easy to just find other people that you no longer have to work at keeping friendships. If it gets difficult, just drop them and move on.

Maybe so... but they are getting in much greater touch with those cyberfriends they would NEVER have known until the computer age began.
