Seriously, call a travel agent. They can tell you the best deals. They won't charge you anything to look it up. They make commission if they sell you a package.
Good luck!

Cedar point offers resort deals if you stay with them, but their resorts are kind of expensive, outside of Breakers Express.
Last summer, I went with my husband twice, and we have to drive close to 7 hours to get there. What we did to save money was stay in Toledo. We got a hotel on the way down the first time that morning, then stayed at the park all day, and crashed that night. The next time, we drove down and stayed the night before, and drove back after park closing that night. Yes, I did chug Red Bull, how'd you know? :p
For cheap tickets, peruse Ebay. I lucked out both times last year. The first time, I got a buy it now on 4 tickets for $100 even- or $25 per ticket. At the park last year, they were $45, I think. We only used two tickets, so I resold the other 2 on ebay for $70 later, so really, we only paid $15 each to get in.
The second time, I lucked out again, and found a buy it now on a share holders only coupon- buy 1 ticket, get 1 free. There were 2 coupons, the buy it now price for both coupons together was $10. We resold the 2nd one for $25. We ended up getting into the park for $15 each again, all said and done. Start "trolling" them now. Do random buy-it-now searches, but make sure you read through what the offer is, as many people are offering just coupons for $5 off a ticket. It might take a bit of looking, but you should be able to find a good deal on tickets there. Most the time, it's people who over bought and can't use em, or someone backed out and can't go, etc.
The hotels we stayed at were cheap, too- one was $45/night, the other was $55/night. If you are planning on only being there one day, look at non-cedar point hotels. There's a nice Holiday Inn Express in Sandusky, near the highway that we stayed at one year, which is about a 20 minute drive from the park, unless you leave the park when it closes, and deal with traffic. Either way, it's cheaper than some of the dirtbag motels closer to the park. If an hour's drive doesn't bother you, Toledo's rates are much cheaper ($30-50 cheaper at the same hotel chains!), and are just as nice.
Good luck, and enjoy your trip! We can't go this year, but we're hoping to do it again next year!

try www.cedarpoint.com, tickets are also sold at Tops, Giant Eagle and other grocery stores. Also Pepsi cans in Ohio usually have a coupon on them. You can also get discounted tickets at LCCC (lorain county community college) if you know a current student. You can also get a discount through AAA. As for cheap hotels, you could try staying near Toledo or Lorain/Elyria (both are 30-45 min from Cedar Point). Cedar Point also has a good picnic pavilion where you can leave your lunch for the day-so you can save money on food. Have a good time.
