born and raised in worthington, sw corner on I-90. i had a house in a small town just 15 miles away that sold for $30,000(1 1/2 story, 2 br, double lot). in the smaller town you will get land very cheap. lake front property is the most expensive of course, but every town has a lake. most towns have good education systems although smaller ones combine schools.

as far as jobs, depends on what you do. bigger cities(over 10k) have a little of everything. smaller ones are usually farming in the south. you may think you are taking a pay cut, but the cost of living is a lot less so it evens out.

one thing to be aware of is that the smaller towns are more closed communities. you maybe seen as an outsider for awhile, but don't worry, just show yourself friendly.

did i answer your question? lol if not, just im me or email. .

your email is not confirmed so i'll have to post my answer here.

worthington is a beautiful city. still have family there. not growing by leaps and bounds, only 10k ppl yet. it has changed over the years from the typical white community to intergrating minorites with the "swift" processing plant.

here are a couple links to the city. one thing to remember is that where there is a lack of trees(the southern part) there is more wind and it will be colder. if you like ice fishing, it's a good place ;) there might be a climate map somewhere online too.

it really helps if you are born there lol

I lived on 'Da Range' while growing up. The scenery is beautiful the further north you go when leaving the Cities. There are many small towns with reasonable if not cheap homes. In 92 I sold my parents home, 3 stories, 4 bedrooms, 3 car garage plus a single garage, private well, outbuildings, on a little over 6 acres. Property taxes were less than $50/yr, sold it for $48K...in CA it would have brought at least $250K. Jobs are scarce now, years ago mining and logging were big but not any more.

Try Duluth, or Bemidji. Also East Grand Forks.
