not wrong but hypocritical

A heroin addict has every right to inform people not to start using heroin.

In a way, it's the most believeable scenario... doctors may tell you all the harmful effects, but a person who's contracted AIDS without protected sex, or an addict will provide the best subjective testimony on what not to do.

A doctor will never have the same kind of emotion behind what he says is a "mistake".

Watch "Fog of War" -- if you don't think we can learn from MacNamara because he's a hypocrite, then you will be missing a great piece of human insight into a historic tragedy.

Yes.

If you've seen the Davinci Code (I know.. cliche example) The whole idea was that Jesus had sex, thus was lusty, and so it was bad for some reason.

Does this make all of his teachings a moot points? No.

They say the best way to learn something is to teach it, so.. you really can't go wrong.

Suppose you are addicted to smoking, and your doctor has told you you have lung cancer and it is 75% probable that you have it because you smoke. And suppose further that you then start telling this to every young person you see smoking and try as hard as you can to convince them to quit smoking - even though you can't quit it yourself. Are you then being a hypocrite? -and if you are, is being a hypocrite wrong in such a case? My answer is no, being a hypocrite is not necessarily wrong.

If you have suffered the consequences of such an action and are still currently struggling with that area, people could at least see what would become of them if they were to follow that same path and avoid it. It's all in the way you present it. If you set yourself above others and yet dont actually follow it, then it doesn't mean anything.

Well, I always say something like....easier said than done or I know the right thing to do but....For instance,I tell my kids drugs are bad and they should never try them. When they ask me if I did I tell them the truth, yes. You could even say " I need to be practicing what I'm preaching,but...."♥

That would make a person a hypocrite. It's the same with parents to tell their children not to smoke, yet they do themselves.

Better to practice than to preach...
Actions are always more valuable than words.
