Die-hard rockets fan here. And here are my 8 reasons for being pumped about next season.
1. I agree that Bob sura coming back next season will have a
definitive impact on the team. He's a guard who brings some
pretty impressive numbers with him, (in the 2004-05 season,
he averaged 10.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game.)
2. Last season, the Rockets were 12-6 when both Yao and T-Mac where healthy. So projected over an entire NBA Season, then the Rockets could of gone 54-27. Which would've put us in the number 4 seed in the 2006 playoffs.
3. Plus don't forget that Yao Ming was one of the most dominant centers during the 2nd half of last season, averaging 28.0 points, 12.9 rebounds and 2.0 blocks while shooting 53.4 percent from the field.
4. And nothing against Forward Stromile Swift or his fans, but the dude was a bit of a slacker. In his 6 years in the NBA, He never quit lived up to the expectations of being taken #2 overall. Not to mention that he regularly showed up late for practices. But Forward Shane Battier is a proven leader who performs well under pressure who posted better numbers last season than Swift's did. (Battier’s 10.1 PPG & 5.3 RPG Vs. Swift's 8.9 PPG & 4.4 RPG )
5. Plus Steve Novak will give them a much needed perimeter shooter, much like Matt Bullard was back in the day. During the 2005-06 season, he led his team by averaging 17.5 ppg and 5.9 rpg. On top of that, he shot 97.4% from the foul line.
6. Five time All-Star T-Mac says that his back problems are behind him. And I'm quoting him as saying : "I can't wait to get back in that uniform and get back on the court because it's going to be a hell of a season."
7. Don't forget about Chuck Hayes, he ranked 3rd in the NBA in rebounds per 48 minutes (16.1). And him participating in the Summer league will only make him better.
8. Add Mike James to the mix and you've got a VERY competitive team.
So personally, I can't wait for October. I think we're gonna surprise alot of people.

The 06-07 season will be year the rockets resurrect. Yao and Tmac must be healthy enough play at least 75 games all year and their supporting cast must be healthy too. The addition of Shane Battier is underestimated; he's a great compliment to the superstars. I didn't like the trade of Swift going back to Memphis; he never truly got a chance to show how he could fit in with all those injuries to key Rocket players last season. To me a really important key to their success next year will be the health of Bob Sura. He was a catalyst for their heart and toughness that also rubbed off on the superstars and he brings intangibles not seen in the box score. Add Rafer Alston and the pending re-addition of Mike James to the mix and they are truly dangerous. So health is the key to their season. A title contender in my book.

rockets fan here... i'm excited about the rockets this coming season. they paid a high price fot getting shane battier but i still feel they improved on that transaction because shane gives you outside shooting and defense which are two of there obvious weaknesses... they are pursuing mike james as of the moment and he will make a decision anytime soon. i hope he signs with them because he can add some outside shooting and penetration, and he's a better shooter compared to rafer alston(he just cant shoot consistently, hitting 37%FG last season). their summer league team in vegas hasn't lost a game(they're 3-0) and guys like chuck hayes, john lucas, pat carroll and steve novak have been playing tremendous ball so far, although i expect only 2 of them to make it to the final roster of this season. i also read recently that t-mac's first full workout this summer was pain-free. so that's just good news concerning his bad back... and as for my main man yao, he's been healing well from the injury and i hope he doesn't rush playing, coz the rockets really need a healthy yao coming into training camp... i still cant figure their starting 5 next year but i think its yao, howard, battier, t-mac and mike james or alston at point...

*cricket cricket* .. no die-hard rockets fans .. i'm more of a die-hard Magic fan
but i'll comment .. let me start off by saying the Magic will have a better record than the rockets next year .. doesnt mean the rockets will suck .. im jus sayin the magic will win their division and rockets will make wild card .. maybe ..
but i do like the rockets team next year ..
Rudy gay next to yao .. with t-Mac at the perimeter .. sonds like a lot of double teaming in the hole which then of course leads to an open player .. which more than likley leads to an open shot ..
They'll be aight ..
