I just got a venus fly trap and I was wondering what buggs to feed it. I put an ant in there and the ant climbed allover the "mouths" and nothing happened. Besides that, can I spray the plant with water or will the "mouths" close up? It also says to keep it in bright sunlight. My room is kind of a cave exceptfor like 2 hours in the morning. Is that ok? Will giving it more sunlight make it strong enough to close?

There are trigger hairs inside each trap and three of them need to be touched within three seconds to trigger the trap to close. They do have regular roots and need only eat once a month of so to survive. They need high humidity but you cannot water log them or they will die easily. Invert a clear container over them. Pet stores sell pinhead crickets that can be fed to them.

You can mist you Venus fly trap, i think they are supposed to be kept wet and humid. I think if you can, I would try putting a fly or two in with it. It will eat when its ready, and for the light I would move it to a place with more sun if that is what the directions call for.
