My Parents have been married for 39 years ,My Step-Mother has been w/ my Dad since I was a year old ,We always had a "Brady Bunch " kind of Family (or so it appeared-long story) But we used to go on camping trips when I was a kd ,so we had a normal time there ,however one time they tricked us and we went to Walt Diseny world!! We had a blast!! As a family unit that was the best! But then you have to have favorite separate memories,,,One for Dad: I was about 11-12 and my brother threw a cane pole in the air over a branch & hit me just over my eye and made a goose egg! My Dad FREAKED & of course took me to the ER,They wanted to put stitches in and he yelled @ the docs. He did not want my face scarred in any way!!! He said I was a beautiful little girl and he was'nt NOT going to ruin it!!!Then we have my Step Mom!!! I could not begin to tell you the best memory but I can say this: Moms have a way of knowing when you need them for some things that are @ the time so very crucial and then they are there for the times that it will be crucial even if you do not know it yet!!! If you are lucky enough to have Parents that are as wonderful as mine then you are blessed! Some may have only a single parent or even a Grand-Parent that raised you but they are what is defind as a parent: A loving,Caring being that looks out for you and your well being,Whether you think so or not! They have been there ,done that and will be there for you when you do it!!!!!

My parents are divorced so I don't have a lot of memories of my parents together. A few years after the divorce, they came to a place where they decided to let it be and they are actually good friends now. Hate is such a heavy burden to carry and I was lucky to have parents that were mature enough to get past it. My 15th birthday was the first party that we had jointly since I was a baby (before i remember). My families are from 2 states and this was also the first time that I had all of my grandparents together in one place. My mom's parents came over and my dad's parents were visiting from out of town. My mom let me have a wine cooler and I got a boombox...life was awesome!

Oh, soooo many good ones

I guess the one that stands out is Mama standing there
ironing my school clothes, even the ruffles on my panties!

And Daddy coming home from work with a bag of goodies
from the best bakery in New Orleans...

Then Mama & Dad drank coffee together & my siblings
and I watched Hoody Doody on the only TV in the neighborhood

Later they would tuck us in bed...and we always heard good music coming from the radio... Shangra-la

thanks for asking

When my brother and I were small, my father only got one unpaid week of vacation each year. During that week, the family would see the sights in New York City (where we lived, but rarely got to). We went to the top of the Empire State Building, the circus, ice capades, beaches on Long Island. It was great.

SITTING AROUND THE SUPPER TABLE ON SUNDAY NIGHTS. MOM ALWAYS HAD FRIED CHICKEN, CHICKEN GRAVY, MASHED POTATOES, VEGETABLES FROM THE GARDEN, HOME MADE BREAD, HOME MADE JELLY, AND HOME MADE PIES (PECAN AND LEMON, OR CHERRY AND APPLE, OR RAISIN AND PEACH) OR HOME MADE CAKE OR BROWNIES. IF WE HAD CAKE OR BROWNIES WE HAD HOME CANNED PEACHES OR CHERRIES OR HOME MADE ICE CREAM. WE WOULD TALK ABOUT ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING. MANY A SUNDAY NIGHT WE WOULD HAVE RELATIVES STOP AND EAT WITH US. I HAVE SO MANY GOOD MEMORIES I CAN'T LIST THE BEST.
