Nobody knows yet. But it wasn't Zidane's first time.
A player of uncommon skill and technical poise, Zidane's command of almost any ball, his vision and penchant for big-game goals has earned him comparisons to the greatest creative talents in soccer.
His temper has been another matter.
Playing for Juventus five years ago, Zidane butted Jochen Kientz of Hamburger SV in a Champions League match, also earning a red card.
Eight years ago, Zidane was red-carded for stomping on an opponent while playing Saudi Arabia. At this World Cup he collected two yellow cards and was suspended for France's third group match against Togo.

I wondered, too. The Independent says that the disagreement could have been racist comments, or accusations of steroid abuse by Zidane in Juventus. The only reason Zidane could have done something like that was because of something that was very, very offensive to him. He would have remained his usual contained self otherwise.

Arabella, it's stupid to assume things like that. Your comment is pretty racist, because out of all the possible topics that might be offensive for Zidane you automatically assume it's about his Arab ethnicity.
Zidane has yet to give an interview on that incident.

I wish I knew what he said that pissed Zidane off so much that he lost his cool like that. I am sure this was not the way Zidane had envisioned finishing his career.

Doesn't matter what he called Zidane. Nothing justifies that headbutt. And there is a little something called "freedom of speech" and I truly believe in it. The day we start penalizing people for what they say, rather than what they do we will be in a lot of trouble. ITALY WORLD CUP CHAMPIONS!!!!!

Does it really matter? People must learn to control their tempers; words are only words and no matter how hateful or enraging they may be that must be kept in mind. Unfortunately, a great player who has in the past had a difficult time controlling his anger, once again lost it.
