Best series is probably The Legend of Zelda Seires. Best single game would have to be MGS3. Loved it.

Grand Theft Auto 3, it jump started the whole GTA series into one of the most popular ever. Before that it was popular but wasn't too good. GTA 3 had better graphics, interface, missions, gameplay, etc and in my opinion that makes it the best game ever. It is certainly my favorite. But it all depends on what kind of games you like.

My opinion is Castlevannia for Play station 2 because the graphics and all the hidden rooms. There is more to the game then you can get to in one day. Which makes it a constant turn of events and on the end of your seat monster ride.
