North America is made up of Canada, USA, and Mexico. So people who live in Mexico and Canada are also American because they live in North AMERICA. But people in Canada are can also be called Canadians, as can people in Mexico be called mexicans. But people who live in United States of America can only be called americans. People who live in USA should have a different name other than americans like the canadians and mexicans. I think we should rename USA.

HERE is the QUESTION: Does anyone else think we should rename the USA??

Absolutely not!

Why is it that people always want to play the word game? Words can not change things - only actions make a difference. What difference does it make whether we're called Americans or USAers or Unitedians?

People think that if they just change the word, other things will magically change as well. African-Americans have had this problem for decades. You have the United ***** College Fund, Miss BLACK America, and the National Association for the Advancement of COLORED People (NAACP). Now, the politically correct term is "African-American."

Sadly, there are people who do not like dark-skinned people. Choose any adjective you want, those prejudiced idiots will still not like them.

A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet. Americans by any other name will still be as free!

ok people who come to america are mexican american, african american, and so on....so are we american americans......we shouldn't be catagorized as just americans....we are citizens of the united states of america. we should not change the name of america. we should change the way we think of ourselves. and as far as mexicans being "mexican americans" the only reason they call themselves that are because they are proud of their heritage which is mexico. african americans have the same thing. but you can only consider immigrants to be something american. because if you are born here, have a green card, or in some other sense become and american citizen then you are an american.

Every other country I've traveled to refers to America as "the states".

And googy is off base--Mexico has states.

No, that's silly. what we should do is sue the person who named the continent North America for infringement on our copyright on the name "America" and make them change it.
