the best most famousest? Arturo Sandoval is my personal favorite. Other really good famous trumpet players are Miles Davis, Meynard Ferguson, and of course the man who molded jazz himself: Lious Armstrong

I, personally, think Miles Davis was one of the best trumpet players ever. His music is just so...calming, I guess. Freddie Freeloader!!! I am also a fan of Chris Botti, but he is a more recent musician.
