I would have preferred France to win, since Italy are one of the countries who delight in diving and rolling around. They only got past Australia by getting a last minute penalty awarded after some theatricals! It's a problem amongst some of the latin countries that really needs clamping down on because it's ruining the game. Shame, when you see how talanted they are as players - why do they need to resort to cheating?
However, that said, I think Italy did play slightly better than France in the final, so their victory in that game was not undeserved.

I am! France have scored through penalty kicks since their match against Spain.
France: PK win with Portugal, couldn't finish a goal, while Germans beat Portugal 3-1 easy with no Ballack, and Friedrich and Mertesacker injured.
Italy actually scored against France and not through a PK.
I think Germany vs Italy seemed to be more of a Finals match.

Not me, I wanted the Germans to win it this year... They played like champions since the opener... Too bad the fatigue from the Argentina PKs caught up to them in the Italy game. But at least they are going to have pretty much all their players for the 2010 world cup

I am absolutely elated that Italy won the World Cup. It's about time!!! Twenty-four years is a long time to wait. Now we are just one cup shy of tying Brazil-- and we have more World Cups than any nation in Europe. Viva L'Italia!!!!!!!!!

Besides that, I think Germany should have won. Or Portugal.

i am both disappointed and happy.. Italy is always my fave team, but what a shame for zizou. France played better and they deserved to win.
