I've never seen the movie, and no one has told me about it, but looking at the movie webstie "blairwitch.com" it could easily be something that might have actually happened. I still intend to see the movie, so do your very best not to add any spoilers, I just want to know if it real footage or based on a true story or anything like that.

No no, it's not a stupid question. The movie really did seem real..gave me nightmares for about 2 days, I admit, but it is not real. Burketsville and Blair are towns in Maryland, but thats where the "reality" ends.

Shortly after the movie came out, Heather, Mike and Josh *I think that's the right names* were invited to present an award, but after their names were announced, nobody came to the podium. After about 30 seconds, all three rushed in and said. "Sorry about being late. We got lost getting here!!* Boo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bad joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

I, myself, thought it was real a few days after I saw it. Only to be told by my mom that it wasn't. I kind of figured though. It seemed very beleivable because it wasn't filmed as a movie, but as an amatuer documentary. There is no real accounts of the Blair Witch. However, there was one ghost called a Schnellgeister that terrorized Burkittsville in the early 20th Century. Neighbors nicknamed it Snallygaster. It was described as a half-reptile with octopus limbs, and half-bird with a metallic beak lined with razor-sharp teeth. The earliest stories claimed that the monster sucked the blood of its victims. Which is disturbingly similar to the movie's descriptions of the Blair Witch. But most of the ghosts in Burkittsville are men who lost their lives in the Civil War.

Well if you don't want spoilers, then knowing if it's real or not might just spoil it for you. So If you don't want to know then stop reading now. It's a movie. It's not based on a real story, it never happened, it's not real footage. It's a MOVIE.

OMG!! That movie scared the hell out of me. I seen it in the movie theater when I was like 16. Before we watched it all the media was saying it was real but then months after it came out we all found out its not real. HOLY SH*T, it seems like it is when you watch it though. Have fun. Believe me, you won't want to go into a forest for a while after you watch it.
