Anything out of the ordinary. You want to create a whole character in one minute so you want to write something that says a lot about this person in a very short amount of time. Start with an image, a very small part of it like the scar on someone's hand. Then, tell us in a few sentences how that scar happened. Next, tell us what that incident meant to the character whether the hands are his/hers or not. Finally, end with an important statement about the hands themselves. Treat drama like a camera. You need a close-up and then you zoom out frame by frame.

Well, if you never want to do her homework again, write one about a topic she knows nothing about, and may not even be able to pronounce the words associated with it, like a physics or other science related topic. Or write one on a topic she knows tons about, and make all the info wrong.

If you want to remain friends, then good topics are ones SHE feels passionate about, she will put herself into it and do a good job. What are her interests? Does she like animals? Or does she prefer furs? A pro or con animal rights topic is always bound to get people listening. Or human rights. If these topics are too cerebral, then anything about current trends is good. Why Prada is superior to Versace, that kind of thing. Or Sports, if she likes them. When I was in public speech, I tended to serious topics, but the best monologues I heard were on frivolous topics, because the speakers were interested in them, and put that across.
