One is Casey Stengel, who played for the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1912 to 1917 and the New York Giants from 1921 to 1923, before later managing the Yankees to five consecutive world titles (and another two more), and then the New York Mets.
Stengel is the only man in the 20th century who has worn the uniform of all 4 New York teams while those teams were actually located in New York. I'm thinking that your "have roots" language must hint that this is a bit of a trick question.
