Is this your first pregnancy? Why are they scheduling a C-section?

Okay, enough questions.....

First....quickly---get a glass of water and drink, drink, drink.....dehydration, even slight, can bring on some serious braxton hicks contractions. (I KNOW)

Secondly....contractions kind of feel like someone put a big blood pressure cuff around your middle. You know how it feels tight on your arm---that is how it felt to me! I felt them most about six inches above my belly button---but everyone is different.

If you have ANY concerns---call your doctor. By now, they should have given you guidelines on when to call. Mine was if I had contractions coming every ten minutes that lasted more than X long for one hour....but EVERYONE is different.

Get up and walk around, have something to eat and drink, and see if they continue. If so, they are probably real contractions, not braxton-hicks contractions. Since they don't hurt, it's likely that they are BH contractions, even though they are somewhat regular. Look for three things: (1) the contractions should be regular; (2) they should occur CLOSER together (e.g. going from 6 minutes apart to 4 minutes apart rather than the other way around), and (3) they should increase in intensity.

For me, contractions felt like a band of tightness that started in my abdomen and intensified in my hips. Some women feel it in their back but I didn't really experience that. Most of the pain I felt was in my hips, and it felt like extreme outward pressure. Some women also describe them as very strong menstrual cramps or the cramps you feel when you are constipated...again, I didn't experience that.

Contractions, at their worst feel like the worst cramps you have ever imagined times about 10!!! And it sounds like at the moment you could be having Braxton Hicks (false contractions) just your body getting ready for labor. But a contraction is what you are feeling . The tightenting and that stuff will get more intense and they will get closer together. If they get intense and less than 5 minutes apart get to the Dr. But if they are not always that close and not hurting you are fine.

what you are feeling are probably braxton hicks contractions rather than the real thing from my own experience and those of other mothers i know contractions are painful of at least very uncomfortable and they occur regularly and gradually increase like they will be 20 min apart for a while then gradually go until they are only a few min apart when you go to the hospital to deliver

You are probably having braxton hicks - they are like that but don't hurt. Real contractions are very hard- they start out feeling like cramps and end up feeling like cramps x's a billion.
Braxton Hicks are normal. If you are concerned, call the dr. if they get very close and harder and don't stop when you walk or change positions, call your Dr.

sounds like they have said it in one sounds like braxton hicks they happen but if they really get to be bothersom and close together call the dr. but as long as they are irregular you are going to be good to go for a while.
