I have an English mother, and my biological father (whom I've never met) is American. Both my parents were in the American army. I'm just wondering if the fact that I'm half American gives me citizenship automaticaly. And if so, what does this mean?

I was conceived in the United States (my mother had to leave the army as she was pregnant) and born in England in 1986. Should i ring the English embassy in the US maybe?

Were you born in the States or England?
If you were born in the states, your birth certificate would prove your citizenship. If you were born outside of the States, your parents need to apply for a birth certificate via the embassy which states "Birth Abroad" on it to prove your citizenship.

I am not sure it gives automatic citizenship. It depends how long you have been living in the US rather or not you can get citizenship not who your dad is. You must live in America 3 years to be able to gain citizenship. This means you must live within the 50 states not territories for 3 years, and you must work and prove you can make a living. I would contact the US embassy for info. the website is usembassy.gov
