what are good fonts and colors to use on websites?

for signage in arts as i was trained use lime green and black or red with yellow to be seen.. 2 no more colors.. neon colors..

That is a very subjective question. Most websites use standard fonts like arial, serriff, san-serriff, etc. As far as colors go, just decide on what you want and make sure that it is legible.
