every time there is a check engine light question someone says "check the gas cap" the maf or mass air flow sensor is setting a code with means that it is sendind a signal to the computer that is out of range, also the egr sensor, you said you changed the egr valve did you change the sensor?,did you change the maf?,if so the problem could be a wire leading to and from the sensor, but anyway you know where the problem is in the egr and maf sensors a mechanic with some konw how should be able to trace the problem for you once you exaust every thing that you can do yourself, good luck it sound like a very fixable problem to me.

The EGR valve works in conjunction with MAP (manifold absolute pressure) and throttle position sensors to indicate engine load, and how much exhaust gas is being allowed back into the intake. Check for intake, and other vacuum leaks. Get someone to check the throttle position sensor, and map sensor to see if they are in spec. The passageway to the EGR can become blocked too, but I wouldn’t expect that to set an EGR code. The o2 code might be a separate issue. Be careful about driving it like that because internal parts can be damaged if the air/fuel mix is off. You might need to take it to a technician that has the equipment to properly diagnose this. Good luck.

just to let you know, I had a maf sensor go out on my 90 subaru 2 yrs ago...I was living in flagstaff, az at the time. I took it to guy I had really trusted, he told me he couldn't figure out what was wrong. Had to take it somewhere I had never been. All told, two weeks in the shop and $1000. I think he charged around 400 for the sensor itself, cant really remember. the thing that cost was him poking around every day, trying to figure out what was wrong, trying this or that. Original symptom: engine quit out of nowhere one day, had not been running funny, no warning lights, etc. car would start after awhile, idle rough maybe 20 mins., if you gave it gas during that time, it would die.

Definitely start by cleaning that MAF sensor. Use lots of care, as the sensing wire is very delicate!

CHECK THE GAS CAP TO SEE IF IT'S LOOSE OR YOU MAY NEED A NEW ONE
