My boyfriend just choked me out and punched me in the head yesterday..this is not the first time but it is the last. my question is why do they do this and feel it's ok?

"not the first time, but it is the last" I hope you really mean that it's the last time because you've reported the abuse to the authorities and he's in jail now.
No woman should be hit in any way by a man, or any other person for that matter. If you don't stop it by reporting this to the police, it will just continue until worse case scenario, you're dead.
A man that would hit a woman is no man... he's a little insecure boy that never grew up and can't not handle their emotions. They think hitting is the answer because they can't express their feelings any other way. They have no control of their lives and don't know how to handle it.
You have to be strong girl and walk away or tell the police... it's the only way you'll be out of it for sure.

Please do not just stop with saying it is the last time. Even though he is the one that did this to you, you must seek some help. Whether it is church or counselor. Please believe me. Generally men do this because of control issues. It is to demean you. If you could be made to feel that you are inferior and continue to stay that way they are fine. Being subservant. Anytime you begin to rise above this you are put back in your spot. It will not stop. No matter what. Never ever. The reason to get assistance is because you need to make sure the brain washing is taken out of you. A cleansing so to speak. You need to get your self esteem and inner energy back. Generally, it is because they have experienced this somewhere in thier life. Its the "Monkey see, Monkey do" syndrome (thats what I call it). They somewhere learned that it was ok to express their anger in this way. The real question should be, why wasn't this the first time? Why did you stay for so long? I was there once and wish you all the best and seriously, I think that you should talk to someone about all of this to help you in the long run. If you want to talk . . . I am here. Some people are insecure or unable to control their emotions. They need someone to show them what they aredoing is wrong.
Personal opinion, men like this shouldn't be in relationships and should consider getting professional help so it doesn't get worse later on in life.
Honey,get some help right away. Share this with someone you trust. And consider breaking it off with him,atleast for now.

Some guys do it to feel powerful and in control of something. In many cases it is a disease guys can't/don't control their behavior they continually hit women. They don't stop regardless of appologizes and even sincere attempts to stop. Don't stay with him. Getting out of the relationship is the best thing for you.

Well I am a guy and I don't believe in hitting women at all under any circumstances ever! If your bf beats you, you should get help and he's a ****** idiot cause not all men are like that only ones who don't realize how good they have it.

They are so possesive of their gift they dont want anyone looking at them. By God if they do I tell you what lets put a few marks here and there and then they wont want her. They are just insecure and have not been brought up in loving environment when they were growing up.
