Why wont my sony clie th55 turn on when the battery is charged?

When I reset it, the Palm logo shows but then fades away, and the backlight stays on.

This may be a last resort (It erases all data), but do a hard reset. Hold the power button down, push the reset button, then wait for the palm powered screen. When it comes up, let go of the power button and say yes to the following message.
