What is an appropriate amount of time to wait before asking to go on future industry specific trainings?

How soon is the next one? And how profitable is the company you work for? You should understand the budget for meetings and conferences so you can exercise some sensitivity if there simply isn't enough money. But if you feel there IS enough money, then I'd at least notify your boss of ALL upcoming conferences. Can't hurt in that case. However, beware your boss doesn't steal your trips, like mine likes to do!

I would say if you had to spend a week in Charleston, ask to go somewhere better next week !
