Since you don't want to jeopardize your current job, don't take the time off for the other interview - see if you can arrange the other interview either before or after work, or during lunch hour.

good luck

That is a pretty good question. I highly suggest you DO NOT pass up the opportunity. You may think about how to take the time off of work to go. Honestly, if I were a potential employer, and you called me to say you couldn't get off of work, it would sort of suggest that you aren't quite serious about the position. Not off to a good start, you know? Maybe make something up. It's not the honest thing to do, but if it's as awesome as you say it is, you might all of a sudden come down with a cold (hint-hint) so you can show up for the interview. Good luck.

Let the potential employer know you are currently employed, however, you are very interested in seeking an opportuntity at company z. Let them know your current work hours and give them a time either before or after work when you are available to interview. This will show the new company that you are respectful of your current company which will be a bonus for you. Don't tell your current company what you are doing; they may fire you if they know you are looking elsewhere. I've come in as early as 6 am to interview and stayed as late as 7 to interview and even did phone interviews on weekends in order to accomodate a potential employee. Good luck!

Most people would understand your dilemma and work around your work schedule as this is a good work ethic.
