Put them back not only will it be difficult for wild eels to survive (and even if they did they would be very miserable) in a tank. It is illegal to take fish or any type of wildlife and keep them as pets. If you get caught depending on where you live you could face a very heavy fine or even imprisionment.

I hate to say this but the best thing to do would be to let them go. They will not be happy in a small tank if they always had a river to live in. Please think about the animal. Try getting a captive born animal.

Washington State or Washington, D.C.? If they are from Washington State you should feed them apples. If they are from Washington, D.C. write to your Congressman and get your answer bcz they know everything!
