I used to live there. ALOT of it comes from the melted snow running down from the mountains. Other than that i'm not really sure. The river is fine just don't swim in Lake Isabella.

It either comes from the sierra mountains and from melted snow of from the mountains. It`s good fishing but to swim it I wouldn`t. I also heard once long ago that it came from the feathered river also.
