If you said to a junkie:

"Dude! that's talc powder you are about to snort!!"

He would probably drop it and curse. Never mind that he may snort it all the same but the chances exist that he won't.

But, if you said to him truthfully:

"That stuff is pure"

His reply would most probably be:

"Now that's what i'm talking about! Da BOMB!!!"

He could overdose on whatever stuff. Lying to him could quite literally save his life whereas the truth could take that life. What would you do? Put another way, are all lies sinful?

Of course all lies are sinful. But the fact is, its his life, if you don't like what he's doing, either take the stuff from him or take him to a hospital when he does it. If not that, call the police and save his life. And the words "sinful lie" is redundant. A lie is automatically sinful, but I understand why your doing it, and that your NOT doing it for selfish reasons, but out of the goodness and concerns for another. That is why you shouldn't LIE. Jesus wouldn't have. He would simply have found another way. Since unlike Christ we are unable to throw out the desire for the drugs from the person, we can only make other more limited decisions but all should be moral one so that we don't get "caught up" in Satans game. If you lie in this, why stop there? There are literally a dozen options to help this man, only wisdom stops you from choosing one.

Great question and good luck!!!

I think that in that case that it would be better to save the junkies life and maybe he could become a better person.
