Common refrain among lesbians and bisexuals who do not understand the appeal of butch women is "If I wanted to be with someone who looks like a man, I'd be with a man!" "Male" traits in females constitute something else altogether--"something our gender-impoverished language doesn't offer us words to describe. Butches and femmes appreciate and complement each other's physical and emotional differences--as well as their likenesses--in a way that no outsider could truly understand.

Well, as a butch lesbian I just have to say...that I wouldn;t date anyone really butchy, to me it would just be weird. Somewhere between feminine and butch is ok tho. However if I was feminine, I would date any woman who had the characteristics I was looking for in a partner.

It makes me sad when people say if I wanted to be with a man, I would be with a man when talking about butch/dykes. There is an entire spectrum of gender role characteristics and noone fits neatly into one category. As I've explained in other answers my voice is deep and my features are masculine by nature. I like a simple haircut and men's style of clothing, but I am so not a man, nor do I wish to be one. Please don;t label us all in one way. There are butch women who do not like to even be touched as a woman, and there are women who do choose to be with them and like that. There are others who absolutely enjoy feeling things as a women does, just has a more masucline stlye about them. I fit no stereotype, and many other's don't either. We are just another level on the spectrum of gender identity and roles.

I'm not saying it's wrong to NOT be attracted to butch women..cause hey I'm not lol. But I just ask you not label us as man-haters, immitaters or wanna-be's because we are all different with different personailites and preferences.
Again if I was a "lip-stick" lesbian I would prolly choose to date butch women more often than not because to me, if you find the right one, they can be the best of both worlds. Protective and strong yet gentle, considerate, and giving. Atleast that's how i see the balance with-in myself.

Oh and P.S. we also don't all pack. I'm not saying I wouldn't do it for role play or something but it's not something many of us "need" to do. Does that make me less butch? lol seriously.

I've only dated a stud one time in my whole life, she was a cutie though. I like better girly girls, and the girl I'm dating now is extremely feminine...but don't get me wrong, there are some nice looking studs.

Im a bit butch, but my wife is super dyky. I love it, its hot. There is an air of confidence about her, she isnt afriad to be who she wants to be and look like she wants to look like. Besides the fact that shes the hottest lover Ive had in all my 34 yrs of life.

god what a loaded question lololol if anything i would say perhaps a person would be attracted to them for their air of confidence. not really my thing but there are some mighty hot butcher women out there. and they seem to be go getters, and the type who get things done. maybe thats what attracts others to them.

There's nothing about them that attracts me. If I wanted to be with a man, I wouldn't be lesbian.

Not a thing. I'm bi and quite feminine. If I want a woman, I want one like me. If I want a man, I want a man.
