I work at a daycare center and my son goes there with me. After taxes are taken out and daycare is taken out, I average about $1.50 an hour. Yes, a $1.50 an hour. Why am I even working there? It's crazy. Do I really have to give two weeks notice?

Welcome to the real world. In your next job, don't do the math; it's easier that way. As they say, "ignorance is bliss". No you don't have to give 2 weeks notice. Why should you care about a job that obviously doesn't care about you?

People like twilight seven always seem to think they have all the answers. Ignore them.

yes you still have to give two weeks notice. Why are you working there?? Is that what you really did want in a career and took college classes. Only got a high school degree and didn't get a college degree (which is stupid cause you can't get anything better than fast food and daycares without one) or you just dropped out of school and thought you could do better than going through school. I've dealt with all three types of people. The last two always regret their decisions.

That is very cheap!
Why dont you just work at home? Go for the internet business, which requires less of your time and the one that will not make you feel headache with web designing, or which require IT knowledge. Second, choose the internet based company which offer you the opportunity and at the same time giving you the convenience to start the business. Third, choose the business, which does not require big money to start it.

Honestly, I tried so many opportunities offered through the internet and this is the only one that really works.

Dont be exploited.
If you don't want to give 2 weeks notice. Go into the bathroom when nobody else is there. Throw some water on the floor. Plant yourself on the floor and scream out you slipped & hurt your back.
2 weeks or more off with pay and sue them for negligence if you want.

Yes unfortunately you should give a two-week notice because you do not want to mess your work references. As far as the pay I know how you feel. I think it would be best for you to look for a new job while you are working so that you can take your time and get the job that you want.

The way things are set up, it seems like people are punished for working. However the two weeks notice is a must because some day you may need that reference.

Why are you paying for day care as you work at a daycare center? Maybe I'm slow.

I would give notice if you plan to continue to work in that profession and put them as a former employer on your resume...just in case they call them up for references.

But if not I would just leave, $1.50/hr is obviously not worth it.

If you don't want to work there anymore, put in your two weeks and tell them you won't go if they give you a raise.

If you quit on the spot, you'll get bad references for your next job!
