Brad Smith is a tremendous athlete, and should do well at other skill positions besides QB. Much like Randle-Elle for the Steelers. Smith came from a program that suited him well, and he excelled there, much like Michael Bishop did at Kansas State a few years back. He had a strong arm as well, but the offense he ran was nothing like a pro offense. Bishop was stubborn, and refused to play any other position than QB, and look where he is now. (He's playing arena ball) Brad Smith can be an NFL star at receiver, but if he wants to be a QB, you're looking at NFL europe or Arena Ball at best.

I am a huge MU fan but Brad is not a good enough passer to play QB in the NFL right now. He is like RandellEl for the Steelers. He might throw a touchdown in the Super Bowl, but it will be as a Wide Receiver.

Because he's a bit undersized and didn't play in a very complicated offense at Mizzou. Most teams probably feel like he'd be too big of a project because of the complexity of their playbooks. Before you get overly upset, I am not calling the man dumb; I'm saying these playbooks are DEEP and very comprehensive in several cases. He wouldn't be very productive because he'd spend too much time in the playbook learning the terminology and etc....therefore they're not willing to take the chance. Also, there are several QB's out there who were in more "high profile" situations that impressed coaches with the fact that they're tall, athletci, good arms, good speed, just like Smith (except for the tall thing)

First of all, he's not that strong armed. He has a chance to be a Randell El type, but he is not as talented as Randell El. Brad went to high school in my home town, so I know that he's an amazing talent. But amazing talent doesn't always equal NFL success. He'll get some reps in practice, but he will never be an NFL started at QB.

If he wanted a shot at it, he should have refused to be considered for another position. He didn't care. He just wanted to play football (or at least, to collect an NFL paycheck).
He's small, he's not as strong-armed as you think (certainly not as strong-armed as Patrick Ramsey), and he's not used to NFL-style offenses.
I would have respected his decision if he'd chosen to play quarterback and ONLY quarterback. But he had very little chance to succeed that way. He made the smart choice.

Bears are smart, fast, and strong armed, but that doesn't mean they deserve to be NFL quarterbacks
