Money makes people slaves to material things / desires. We become attached to things we really don't need. It represents economic power, success...all things related to the ego. But as human beings, can we exist without the ego?

people focus on money rather than on meaningful relationships with others because our culture is fixated on the myth of the individual. We are taught in many ways that personal success is the most important thing, and personal success is rewarded by money and measured in money.
We don't have to believe this.
I'm sure your six year old can understand this if you expand a bit more than I did and give her examples.

Greed! The obsession with being the best! Isn't that part of the American Dream?
What about being generous?! I receive tips from my job and I make it a point to go out and tip someone else or donate to those veterans with the little paper flowers or buy candy bars from kids ya know?

Money is a means of exchaging goods. Like one of the other posters said, without it we'd starve.

well, we need it to survive, but most want too much cuz they are greedy, and have no self control...but how to u say that to a child? dont know...good luck. kids are too innocent to take in wuts wrong w us grown ups
