I have run 12 marathons and each time I bonk around mile 22. I have tried running a full 26 miles in training prior to the marathon and also tried only running 15 miles for a long run. It does'nt seem to matter much because I still die at mile 22

I ran a marathon 2 years ago and almost died.. Be really smart and train like they tell you and IF you find you come down with a bad cold and or flu. listen to your doctor and get checked out before the race. I had been training for a year and a half every other day, BUT came down with the flu the week before the race and thought I was well. I had my back start hurting really bad during the race and would have to stop but kept going, It was my kidney, bleeding I was in the hospital in Austin Tx for 2 weeks. So be careful.. Oh the answer I think to your question is mile# 19. Oprah said too, Even IF you do not believe in Jesus you see him or at least ask for him on mile #19 Because you need help... Be careful and good luck.

I have hit the wall anywhere between mile 18 and 24. I have never had a marathon that I thought was easy. I think it is all a combination of training, mental preparation and physical ability. I should accept the fact that my body really can't handle it but I want so badly to run Boston just once in my life. I am 40 minutes from qualifying so I may have to give up on that dream. Nah, I'll keep trying.

I always bonk around mile 20. Once I push through that, the rest is easy (relatively)
