Much of this has nothing to do with judgment. But with the various prejudices displayed against various ethnic groups. During the colonial period-the English colonists opposed the immigration of Scots and Welsh into the colonies. Calling them thieves and robbers of jobs and opportunities that should only be the property of the English colonists. With independence this died out to a certain extent. This prejudice has since been seen attacking other ethnic groups trying to immigrate into the U.S. the Irish, Germans, Scandavians, Eastern Europeans, Italians among others. Just prior to WW II we restricted the immigration of Jews into the United States fearing a weakening of our culture and religious viewpoints. This led to the death of thousands at the hands of Adolf Hitler.
Most Americans are not aware of this particular history and tend to follow what is said in the papers as fact. If you review the history of immigration into the United States you can see the same accusations and arguements repeated time and again. What is happening now is nothing more than a repeatition of past arguements and viewpoints.
As with any people you get criminals and non criminals in every population. The criminals are more noticable than the non-criminals. Tradtionally, immigrants to the United States are those that face persecution, are disadvantaged or face some other severe negative consequence in their native land. These individuals tend to be more aggressive, willing to take risks, independent, and determined than those that remain. These charastics could increase the potential for criminal behavior. However, it has also led to increased income, technology, economics and related matters here in the United States. It is a double edged sword. It cuts both ways. As a result of the reporting of the misbehavior of the few, the majority are condemned. Because many of the same traits are seen in the criminal as well as the non criminal the negative views are reinforced. This perpetuates the prejudice and seems to justify it.
It takes on the average 3 generations of an immigrant population to fully integrate into the American culture. As this is an assimulated culture, there are many different behaviours and traditions that are rapidly evolving. This can be seen in the celebration of various holidays and civic events. This is confusing and threatening to a new immigrant. As a result, the first generation mostly stays to itself-speakes its native tounge and practices its historical traditions. The second generation moves more into the mainstream culture speaks both the old language and English, gains more education and tends to look at the parents and those clinging to the old culture as backward. It is the third generation that is truely assimulated into the American Culture-they speak almost entirely English and only practice those traditions seen as common in the United States. Until this 3rd generation occurs, the individuals are still seen as immigrants to a certain extent.
It is due to the factors of increased opportunity, acceptance and related matters that make the United States attractive to many. It is the factors of ignorance of American culture and similiar factors that immigrants are seen with distrust and not truely welcomed.

It is not that I am trying to judge anybody, I just think that everyone needs to be more considerate and stop trying to find the easy way out. I don't have anything against the people coming here from other countries, I just feel like they should be legal, it is not like there isn't a way that they can come to America and be a citizen, they want for their families as bad as we do, but the illegal immigrants should think about the money and problems they are causing the families here!If they are citizens, then I wish them well, b/c they did it the correct way,and I welcome them with open arms!
