I think that we are becoming more instant-gratification oriented. Children are growing up with shows like "Sweet Sixteen" and "The OC". They see this, and think, "Wow, my life should be like that." Parents are giving too much, and not setting up enough responsibility for their children, therefore these kids grow up without real value, and without understanding that one has to give to gain. This trend goes further to explain the weight problem. Food is a new form of entertainment. It's easy, releases endorphins, and can be experienced with little effort upon your own behalf. I understand that past generations have all had grim outlooks for the youth, but look at the differences. The hippies had a cause worth fighting; something that united them, a hardship to go through, and their parents had the Depression and WWII.
-----Never again will these kids have as high a standard of living, because never again will they be able to have anything they want without working for it. What kind of adults will these children make?

The goal of the founding fathers was amazing. But our culture is taking freedoms for granted and has a warped perspective of things. An example is we go to prision for killing a dog but when we wkill a baby with aboprtion nothing. It doesn't make sense. However, there is good in the society with our right to freedom, but we take it for granted and push everyuthing to the exstreme. With true freedom we must follow the rules and not try to change things on a whim. An example is the same-sex marriage. We are trying to do so much now and making life complicated. Follow your freedom and use that to become a better peseron and not make your self a bad person. Build your self and others up, but the culture is the oppsosite. So in my rambling, sociry needs work, there are many bad things to it but it still has good things.

Americans (presumably you mean the culture of the United States of America, which IS far too general) think the 'American culture' is great. The rest of the world think they are idiots (as a group, not necessarily the individuals) for putting an idiot in charge of them. The American culture is a feeding ground for ignorance and self-importance. I'm sure there are significant numbers of people from the US who don't fall into this category, but a whole George W. doesn't paint a pretty picture of the American culture. Forgive me if I misunderestimated him.

Though a bit commercialistic, I think that it is great. I thank God for our freedom every day; we have a habit of taking it for granted.
