No, it's not, but how can you stop someone who has the money since the technology is readily available. A 63 yr old mother, and a 60 yr old father - that's cruel. It's likely neither will see him reach his teenage years.

Did it ever occur to anyone that a woman who is healthy enough to have a child at 62 just might have another 20 or 30+ years ahead of her. This is not a stupid woman and if you look at her she looks pretty darn good for 62. Plus this is not their first child so its not like the child would be orphaned or abandoned if one or both parents died. I doubt seriously that this was a decision this couple made without considerable thought and consultation with their children and extended family members. Besides, I've had several friends who were raised by grandparents and it didn't seem to damage their psyche. It cracks me up that some of the people who are the most shocked by this are in their 20's or youngers. Guess what guys, life really does go on past 40, 50, 60, and so on and so on. http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2006/07/08/1152240538078.html

Well i don't think having a child at 62 is right when the kid is 8 teh mother will be 70 and when the kid is 18 she'll be 80/ think that this age is too late becasue the mother may not be able to give the child what it need not just phyically, or financially but also emotionally.

I don't know what beaker is talking about, it's not selfish trying to be happy and bringing a baby into the world. When the child is orphaned, family and friends could take care of it, and she's probably getting alot of attention from the media, and usually all that attention is associated with money so I think the child will be taken care of.

Although women are appearing younger and younger in their later years, I don't think women should be birthing children that late in life. Our bodies were made to have children when we are young. But, to each his own, I suppose. I'd keel over if I got pregnant at 62 years old!

I agree with beaker. It's just plain selfish and self-serving to create a child that will have to choose between going to college or staying home to change his/her parent's diapers.

I think it's both foolish and selfish for a woman that age to have a child.

This is pure selfishness on the mothers behalf. She is only thinking of herself, NOT the wellbeing of the child.
