That's not true. It has been amended. You are looking at the unrevised Constitution.

Actually, it's 3/5.

As a point of clarification, the 3/5 compromise was never "added" to the U.S. Constitution. It was a Supreme Court interpretation of the Constitution that came out of the "Dredd Scott" case.

Article I. Section. 2. Clause 3: Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons.

The 3/5 compromise was added so the Northern and Southern states could come to an agreement of how slaves were counted in the population. If all the slaves were counted, Southern states would gain more legislative power by means of more representatives. So, the 3/5 compromise was created so the slaves didn't count as a whole, and so the Northern states thought legislative power distribution was equal.

I don't think you are reading the entire thing or someone has filled your head with nonsense.

The constitution actually refers to 'other persons', meaning slaves. Since the 13th Amendment outlaws slavery, the reference is moot.

"Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States
which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers,
which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons,
including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not
taxed, three fifths of all other Persons."

It's really 3/5's and for slaves, not necessarily black men.

It's no longer relievant to the time.

There are lots of laws on the books that are no longer 'valid'.
