My monitor doesnt work so i bought a new one. it doesnt work either is it the motherboard or the video card? If i get a new video card, are they all compatible with my computer? (pci-e) If i meet the system requirements, i dont have to search for specific cards so my computer can use it right?

It could be either, but getting a new PCI-e card will eliminate the problem.

Could be either.

More than likely will be the video card. When you turn on the computer does the system look like it is powering on and loading? Do you see the hard drive light flashing for a while and then stopping? If so then your computer is probobly still booting, and thus your video card is at fault.
If your computer isn't booting at all then it could still be either, try removing the video card and booting.
Still not 'seeming' like its booting? Then its the motherboard.

Probably video card. Open you pc and physically remove and then reset the card. Do this while the PC is off and the power cord is disconnected. Ground yoursself (touch the metal frame) before you reach into the PC.

If you're at all unsure about that procedure take the PC to BEst Buy and have them do it. While there you can buy a new video card...if this one turns out to be broken.

The video card the motherboard has nothing to do with moniters.

first try your current video card in another slot, if it still doesn't work, replace it with one that is compatible with your system's capabilities. if the monitor still doesn't work, you have to replace the motherboard.
