Should I pierce my ears?
Mom says I should wait until I am done with summer trips because they are hard to care for. Is that true?

Does it really hurt?
Do you have to do a ton of special stuff the first few weeks? If so, what?

If "hard to care for" is simply turning them and rubbing them with an alcohol swab daily then, yeah; that's really hard.

They aren't really that hard to take care of you. You just have to make sure to clean them everyday with either special earring solution or peroxide. And you have to make sure to spin the earring inside the hole so your skin doesn't grow onto the ring. They don't really hurt. I had my cartilage done and that didn't even hurt and I got my lobes pierced when I was 3 and I didn't even cry. lol. I remember that day perfectly.

Unless you are getting cartilage piercings, I don't know what your mother is talking about as far as hard to care for.

However if part of your summer trips will include swimming (pools or lake/river/ocean), I suggest waiting until you are through with your trips.

Swimming should be avoided while piercings are healing.

Anywhere in your ear, when peirced, isn't hard to take care off. Basically, when you get your ears peirced, they'll give you a bottle of solution. You just have to sponge some on the peircing and twist the earring. Pretty easy.

I don't think it really matters about the trips, just be sure to keep your ear stuff with you.

You don't have to do much. Just rub them with the stuff they give you twice a day (once in the morning, once in the evening) and turn them twice a day.

I had mine pierced 35 years ago by a friend in her bathroom. She used ice, a potato and needle. The only thing I did, was clean them with rubbing alcohol and never had any problems.

yeah you have to turn them all the time and keep medicine on them and make sure they dont get infected, the first couple of days is finda hard to sleep cause they are a little sore. i would go with mom on this one.

you would just have to put peroxide on your ears every night and soak your earrings in alcohol every night.
