You should be able to screw off the bolt without the nut moving. Other than that you would have to get a mechanic to take it off, most likely.

You mentioned a round nut. Is this from wear? If so then like the others have said use vice grips and some penetrating oil. There are some bolts that use a round nut and are not designed to be removed. Some frame parts are held together with bolts called "Hulk Bolts" These bolts are place through the pieces to be held together and a round collar is slipped over the threaded end of the bolt. A hulk gun pulls the bolt and pushes the collar down squeezing the two pieces of metal together. As the clamping force reached the correct amount the round collar is squeezed around the threads and the extruding part of the bolt snaps off. The bolts appear to have threads but only have circular cut threads and the collar will not unscrew. Is the head of the bolt a hex head or round also? Best of luck to you.

I am sorry that you have a round nut.
Most of us have hex nuts. your lucky.

On a more professional note. Take a pair of vice grips and lock
them on there and turn clock wise and it should come off.
You might want to spray some W-D 40 on the nut to make it
easier to get off.

Good luck.

Trying to be serious, I assume the rounded nut is from wear? try taking it off with Vice-grips.

try a pair of vise-grips. it works for me on bolts or nuts that are stripped.

A small pipe wrench would work better it grabs the bolt better.

Maybe it's not suppose to come off.
But if you really want it off, use vice grips and a hack saw

If vise grips don’t work, and it’s important and accessible, you can get someone to weld a screw head to it.
