this same kinda thing happened to me before a time or two actually. I told the interviewer/prospective employer the situation and they arranged a lunch time interview or after hours/before hours interview. Maybe that will work for you. Employers realize that things like this happen. Its worth a shot anyway isn't it? Heck yeah. go get em....good luck

Do not call in "sick" because you'd just be telling your potentially new employer that you're a cheat.

Most companies will set up interviews before or after normal working hours or on the phone during lunch breaks. They know that the people they want already have jobs so they tend to be flexible. If they will not set up an outside of normal business hours interview, it's not a company you want to work for anyway. They are too rigid.

I would schedule my interview in the morning and call into my job and let them know that I am running a little late. Don't take the whole day off from your job, just schedule the interview around it. Some interviewers will understand that you have a job and they are mostly more than willing to accomodate your interviewing time.

If you think this other job is well worth it and you can't arrange to interview during your lunch break or after your core hours, try to schedule the interview for first thing in the morning. Ask your employer if they mind you arriving an hour or so late due to an appointment. Go to the interview and make sure you nail it!

It never looks good when you call in sick after being at a job for 2 days. So let's say you take the time off and make yourself look bad in the eyes of your new employer and then don't get the other job what do you do? You have to do what feels right to you.

Try to schedule the interview over your lunch time. Maybe schedule the interview after working hours. Tell the prospective employer the situation and they may accommodate you. You may also score extra points because you really want to work for them. This is something that employers look for, loyalty.

Your question is a bit confusing..............if the interview is already scheduled, then you will need to go to it ( if you want to be employed ); if the interview is NOT scheduled, then go on the trip and check with the job when you get back. By the way - sorry to Mom, but almost all companies hire by online methods nowadays; not like the "good old days' when a person was able to apply in person

You should set the interview up for a time that you aren't in work, that way you don't have to take work off. When I was working at one place I always made my appointment for an interview after working hours or the weekend.

Schedule the interview during your lunch time. Sometime during your lunch break "before the interview", call your boss and tell them your car won't stalled and won't start. Hopefully your interview will only take less than 1 hour and 30 minutes. When you get back from your late lunch, you can tell them someone helped you get your car started.

Try to make the interview for when you got off work at your other job.
If that is not possible...
Say you have an emergency dental appointment.
...an emergency doctor appointment.
....you were called for jury duty
Ask if you can have time off during the day but you will make it up by working late other days.
