I have no religion, so don't start calling me a "right wing Christian nut" I honestly want to know how Christians on the left feel about people downing their religion.

Honestly anyone associated with the current administration cannot call themselves Christians. Remember Christians believe in helping the less fortunate. This administration does not even believe in helping the victimes of Hurricane Katrina.

I am a Republican and a Christian as well.

Now I am not gonna say there are no Christians in the Democratic party for I did read testimony of a Lady who professed to be a Christian and a Democrat as well (she did however express in 2004 that she was voting for Bush because she felt Kerry was too immoral for her to even bother voting for him).

Back in the 19th Century it was normal to find Christians in either the Democratic or Republican parties, same was true in the early part of the 20th Century but now considering how many Immoral Platforms the Democratic Party has you have to really wonder why a true Christian would even join the Democrats these days.

I can understand a Christian choosing to be Libertarian or a member of the Constitution Party or an Independent if not wanting to be a Republican (I was in the Reform Party myself and had considered becoming a Libertarian Party member even though I voted Bush in 2000 while being a Reform Party member), after 9/11 I knew I wanted to be a Republican for sure.

Im not gonna say no Democrats are Christian because I honestly think there are for sure especially in the South (some Southern Conservative people choose to be Democrat because the Republican Party crushed the Confederacy).

Heck not too long ago a lady from Minnestoa that I chat with referenced that the Newspaper from Minneapolis and the Newspaper from St. Paul are both controlled by Democrats but the ones that control the Newspaper in St. Paul are Conservative Democrats and so St. Paul's paper is better for Republicans than Minneapolis's paper.

When I gathered Petitions for a Gun Show, one Minister who votes Independently and happens to like the Democratic Congressman (prolly cause my Democratic Congressman is Pro-Life), he did sign petition for Republican Governor Candidate and Republican Congressional Candidate anyways and said his Congregation has a mixed blend of Democrats and Republicans and a lot of his Democratic members are Conservative.

Some people who do not go to that CHurch accused him of Endorsing Bush for President in 2004 but in reality he never did that inside the Church itself, instead he talked about the issues and even some of the Democrats had said he talked about the issues but never did a direct endorsement of Bush inside the Church.

Why do you think that the left hates Christians. Hating these so called religious right Christians is not the same thing. We have the utmost respect for Christians who are true loving people. The current arrogant group that wants to run this country and make it center on a God that not everyone believes in are a disgraced to the term of Christian.

The left does not down religion. It downs the Republicans' presumption that only they know what the correct religion is and how it should be applied to the government that governs us all.

The founders of this great country, though very religious people, knew that religion had no place in the governing of the people except as it had shaped the people who have been elected.

Democrats are not hostile towards Christianity. Most Democrat leaders are church-going, God-fearing men and women of character and integrity. They do not push their religion as a political agenda. That is why wacko Conservatives think that they are anti-Christian. According to the Conservatives one must push a religious agenda to be a Good Christian. Conservatives want a tyranical theocracy to be put into place in America. They demonize the Left and truely hate Democracy.

The same question can be turned around asked of the Republicans:

"How do Secular Republicans feel about all the hatred by the Christian Right towards their values?"

I believe that this 'era' of our lives is pretty crazy! I believe that our Lord, loves us ALL! Not just 'the Repubicans'.. I believe he loves Democrats too. That said, what is happening in this country defies my imagination with the 'uppity, I do no wrong (where there is SEVERE stench everywhere with political bribes, breaking our constitutional rights, to leading what I believe to be an illegal war etc....) and you must feel as I do, or you are WRONG' moral code is enough to make me puke! Now, I do pray that our soldiers are safe and I even pray for our President, as much as I personally think he's a dork, but nonetheless, he is our President. So take it as you want..

I consider myself a "progessive liberal" or perhaps a "progressive patriot" (to borrow the name of Sen. Feingold's PAC) and I can't honestly say that I subscribe to any one religion. I was raised Lutheran but so much of today's "Christianity" doesn't make much sense to me.

I always go back to the Gandhi quote...

"I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ."

But I don't hate anyone's religion. It has a place and a time. As long as no one is trying to force their beliefs and their religion down my throat, as say Pat Robertson & Jerry Falwell do, I say to live and let live. And if you're going to broadcast your Christianity for all the world, at least make it somewhat in line with what Christ taught.

This is only my humble opinion, so take it or leave it.

I'm Jewish and on the moderate end of the left wing....I think anyone that hates a Xtian is poorly mistaken.

Unless, of course, the Xtian has bad character about his beliefs. But since he's already a democrat it doesn't matter to the dems....Or so it shouldn't.
