Salt, really i am not crazy, salt will get rid of them. I don't know your current snake problems but take rock salt and put it around your snake prone area. Snakes don't cross salt.

The best answer may be calling an exterminator, but if too expensive, you can buy snake repellant at places like home depot. It comes in little granules in a plastic bottle. You sprinkle it around the exterior wall of your house.

If you have other pests, such as insects or mice, they could be drawing the snakes in.

One more thing you could do - if you have a lot of bushes and grass where a snake could hide near your house, cut them down. One great reason for having a lawn all around the house is to keep the critters from coming close enough to get in.

You can build a trap out of wire and a plastic home made funnel. Make the trap out of bent wire with the plastic funnel that has a hole at the tip. Form it so that the funnel is pointed into the trap. put a mouse in there and you will catch many snakes this way. To enpty it you place the snakes in a large trash can with a lid that can lock tight. Drive far away from your home and set them free.

Study herpetology and keep them as pets. Snakes make good pets, I have had several over the years, the last one was 5 metres long. If you handle them every few days they never bite. Get a pet king snake from USA, they eat other snakes.

I take it you are snake phobic-- do you know if they are harmful?-- My son's answer (he lives in the woods) is to catch king snakes and turn them loose in his yard. The last one went somewhere and now they have mice-- snakes love mice. The king snake apparently eat other snakes-- no I don't have a source-- probably from Scouts near a 100 years ago.
good luck

The husband of a lady I used to work with took a can of gasoline and made a gas trail from the snake to their patio then lit the trail. I do not recommend this course of action.
