Because a few years ago (i.e. late 80's) the female liberation movement was still going strong, and shoulder pads and pants were worn to make a more feminist statement. Now that women are comfortable with their rights, they're more comfortable with feminine clothing like dresses and skirts.

Because society changes, so do lifestyles, so does fashion. Fashion trends seem to be going in a more feminine pattern for women and girls.
So now its skirts. Remember in the late 70's when the Dirndle skirt was a must have for the winter with the matching scarf? Then they came out with the fur collar sweaters. Scooter skirts were way cool in the 70's, and now they're back again for summer. You never know how things are going to change, so don't dump everything when you clean your closets, keep them around awile, and they'll come back in style.

I think it is because they are comming out with better styles of skirts specifically, longer skirts - about knee length - that girls are more comfortable wearing around, especially compaired to mini-skirts. I have nothing against mini-skirts, but I just dont feel comfortable wearing them in public because it feels like I'm exposoing my backside to the entire world.

I would say that its because fashion goes in cycles. Right now we are in the "romantic look" which incorperates bohimian and victorian styles with a modern touch. This meens more skirts and lace for women, as well as bangles, skarves, embroidery, and layers. Hope I could help!!

I don't know why but i think skirts are very cool and much comfortable then pants. What were women thinking when they wanted to were jeans?.

Global warming - the weather is hotter so you can wear less clothes ie more skirts and less pants!

cuz everyones into the boheimian look nowadays. plus skirts are wayyy cooler in the summer.
